John Sener

John has lived in Santa Barbara
nearly his entire life.

He was raised in the quiet neighborhoods
of San Roque when Hope Avenue was a
maze of children's bike trails amid avocado
orchards, not the high-end car dealerships
of today. He remembers when there were
still three signals filtering traffic on what is
now a busy and efficient 101 Freeway. John
is intimate, not only with the landscape,
architecture and properties of Santa Barbara,
but also the magic of this coastal paradise.

After attending college in Oregon and before starting his real estate career, John played semi-professional baseball; started his own company (John Sener Masonry); and was the manager for two upscale restaurants in Carmel and Monterey. It was then that he met the love of his life, Linda, who became the mother of their two twin daughters, Kelley and Hannah.

John and Linda moved back to Santa Barbara in 1985. It was then that a high school friend introduced him to his first real estate mentor, Gene O'Hagen, who he worked with for several years. Eventually John landed a position in the corporate world of Prudential of California.

In 1996 his friend, Ed Edick along with partner Rene Grubb, invited John to be among a handful of select agents to join their new real estate firm, Village Properties. John is proud to be a part of this well-established real estate tradition that is steeped in integrity and market knowledge with a loyal local and international following.

In over twenty years of selling properties in Santa Barbara County, John has witnessed the real estate boom of the late eighties intermingled with market years when it was tough to give away a home.

When he first got started, multi-million dollar real estate transactions were the exception and Montecito was yet to be discovered by the rest of the world. Today, Montecito, along with Hope Ranch and the Upper East Side are dotted with properties and estates ranging from million dollar homes to mega million dollar estates. JohnÕs early experiences provided him the wisdom and knowledge that is the foundation of his real estate career.

Real estate will always be a moving target. Having seen it all, John is prepared to roll with the ups and downs, to find the opportunities in a down market and work aggressively and quickly when the market is moving furiously. Being flexible, listening to individual needs and finding the best fit for each person is John's top goal when it comes to serving his clients.
